Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Ledge ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Ledge mobile application (the "App"). By using the App, you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

We collect only what we need to run the App:

• Phone number — used to create your account and verify it with a one-time password (OTP).
• Profile details — your name, UPI ID, and an optional profile photo, so flatmates can recognise you and you can receive payments.
• Expense and financial data you enter — amounts, categories, notes, how expenses are split, and settlement records.
• Flat and group information — the flats and groups you create or join, and your membership in them.
• Household records you add — if you use the staff feature, the names, attendance, and salary details you enter for household staff.
• Device and notification data — a push-notification token and basic device information needed to deliver notifications and operate the App.

How we use your information

• To create and secure your account and authenticate you.
• To calculate splits, balances, and settlements between you and your flatmates or group members.
• To generate UPI payment requests so you can settle up.
• To send you relevant notifications.
• To operate, maintain, and improve the App, and to respond to support requests.

How information is shared

Information you add is shared only with the flatmates and group members you choose to share a flat or group with (for example, your name, UPI ID, and the expenses and balances within that flat or group).

We use trusted service providers to run the App, including Google Firebase (phone authentication and push notifications) and our cloud hosting provider (to store and process your data). These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your information while your account is active. You can clear your profile data from within the App using "Reset My Profile" in Settings, or you can request deletion of your account and associated data by emailing us at the address below. We will action verified deletion requests within a reasonable time, except where we are required to retain certain information by law.

Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS), and we apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

Ledge is intended for adults managing shared living expenses and is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes may be communicated within the App.
